Engine Management Light On The Dashboard – What We Found
The customer’s VW Tiguan came into our workshop and was inspected by our technician. They immediately noticed the engine light illuminating as soon as the vehicle started up. To follow our strict diagnostics and repair procedure, the technician ran what is known as a diagnostics scan to determine the exact fault.
This diagnostics scan produced this error code:
- P154B 00 – Diesel Particulate Filter, difference pressure sensor faulty.

The issue was with the DPF sensor and it needed addressing quickly before the condition worsened.
Without a functioning DPF, the vehicle may exhibit the following problems:
- Exhaust pumping out black smoke
- MOT emissions test failure

Diagnosing and Fixing the VW Tiguan DPF Fault
Following on from the diagnostics scan, our technician performed data analysis by running checks on several systems within our customer’s vehicle. They discovered that the DPF had “implausible readings”.
